Spacelord : SPAWN…

Marie: zombie for xmas

...when browsing through my archive I found this one very appropriate for peaceful xmas time.

Lars : Let the music play!

I did this "collage" of several musical instruments some time ago for an English school book, that will be published by Klett. It illustrates an exercise, where the pupils have to write down, how these instruments are called in English.
Exept for the drums and the guitar, I never drew one of those instruments before, so I had to do deeper research to get them right. Ah, in this moment I remember, that I once made an organ of cardboard in my childhood for a cardboard church, I built for my Lego-town. I'm sorry, I never finished it.

Thies : Fish Tank Party

No invitation required...

Olf : More Gaya ...

After Thies and Jens decided to plunder their most bottom drawer due to the lack of time, I'm joining them by posting some stuff from ancient BACK TO GAYA times too. These drawing date back to the year 2001. At least that's what the signature says. Gosh, is it really that long ago?! In that year Jens and I made our diploma and stumbled right into the production of our first CG movie. We were joined by most of the Bilderwumme: Lars, Henning, Thies and Michael. Though it was a suicide squad altogether, we had a great time after all back in the old days of the Royal Art Department known as the ADs.

Now two movies later Jens and I are still there.

The first picture shows two character studies. You can easily imagine by whom the left one was inspired. The right one is somehow a little bit amish. The second picture is a design for a guard which ended up in the movie.

Jensemann : The Gaya never was

Not that much time at the moment, so I looked out for something in my archives.
Like Mr. Schwarz did some days ago, I decided to go far, far back in time, when we joyfully worked together at the Ambient Artdepartment.
This is one of a hundred of markersketches we did during preproduction of the CGI-movie "Back to Gaya" in 2000.
Lots of them shows the Gaya that never was! - Means, there're always a lot of ideas, designs and details - like this little Basketlifts in front of the waterfalls of Gayaland- never find there way into the final film.
I think, at least we could fill a separate blog with tons of that stuff, couldn't we?

Greetings !!!

Michael : Christmas far, far away

Michael Mantel für die Bilderwumme Your daily dose of illustration Featuring Christmas far far away Weihnachten im Weltall

I’m not sure whether I really shall like this image. As often, it has not become what I first thought about. I wanted to create a funny illustration of christmas in outer space. So this is just a colored scribble of something completely different.

Lutz : Plaque

After Uwe dropped the name of one of my All-Time-Favourite characters, i had to dust off my pencils. I didn't managed to integrate this fellow in Uwe's artwork - so i choosed a trashy oldschool appearence.

I think this one needs company, stay tuned!

Thies : Skinny Jeans, Drainpipe Jeans Or Stovepipe Jeans

After visiting berlin these days (with Doc Kurth at the amazing Pictoplasma-Festival), I proudly present the typical trendy Big-City-Skinny-Jeans (worn by everyone here). And the highlight of this year`s cold days: the itchy fur cap.

Spacelord : SPAWN Apocalypse

Thies : Bambi Decor

Today just a little fawn... See you at the Pictoplasma Festival 2007!!!!!!!!!

Tuesday, November 20, 2007

Olf : Pictoplasma 2007!

Mr. Schwarz and I will attend the PICTOPLASMA ANIMATION FESTIVAL in Berlin this weekend. Especially for this occasion we fabricated the handcrafted buttons on the picture above. So watch out for the guys with the cool buttons. See you in Berlin!

OK, so much for the advertising.

I'm quite busy again. I got a call today that an advertising job for which I did some layouts two weeks ago has to be finished until tuesday. Great. As if I didn't have enough to do anyway. But I do not complain. At least I won't get bored ...

So on the right hand is a scribble from the vaults. A portrait of a guy called Jürgen I once met.

Thies : Another Country Chill Out

Today again the ultimate Chill Out Area: At grandpa Hansen`s farm...

Tuesday, November 13, 2007

Olf : Passepartout!

This a character design I did for fun. It's Jean Passepartout from Jules Verne's Around the World in 80 Days. He is described as a likeable fellow with "a good round head, such as one likes to see on the shoulders of a friend". And he is as much passionate and fun as his new master Phileas Fogg is not. A true Parisian from Paris.

So imagine a happy Passepartout standing inside the house at No.7, Saville Row, Burlington Gardens just after he heard Mr. Fogg say: "Now from this moment, twenty-nine minutes after eleven, a.m., this Wednesday, 2nd October, you are in my service."

On the Buicks for 1949 the so-called "ventiports" appeared as a significant styling element for the first time. They became a characteristic of this General Motors-label until 1957. The Roadmaster as the flagship had four of them on each side and the other Buicks only three. After a high school-headmaster complained about some students who pissed into the ventiports of his Roadmaster, Buick decided to cover the holes with small chrome lids.
The most desirable version of the ’49 Roadmaster is the elegantly streamlined coupé called “Sedanette” which I portrayed here. The red “Dynaflow”-emblem (that’s how Buick’s own automatic gearshift was named) on the rear hood is illuminated when the lights are turned on, so the car looks quite impressive even in darkness.

Thies : November Day

It`s a typical stormy, rainy and dark November day in northern Germany today.
Only some weird blokes are going out in the parks...

Looks like a photograph from a proud farmer.

Olf : Happy 4th Birthday!

The little girl I portrayed here celebrates her 4th birthday today. Quite an impressive age.

The bad thing is I couldn't find an envelope that was big enough for the cuddle toy thing. So I did this picture instead. Hope you like it.

All the best birthday wishes,

Uncle Olli

Thies :Embryo Badgets

Today two little badgets to fix on pregnant bellies...

Tuesday, October 23, 2007

Olf : Dr. Zwengelmann!

This is a character study I did for the movie URMEL AUS DEM EIS. Recently I've been scanning and polishing up the designs and stumbled across this one. I immediately felt compelled to add some sunshiny grey.

This jolly gentleman is called Dr. Zwengelmann. He's a zoo director and the civil servant type of guy.

Lars : Skateboard Granny

This lovely old lady is on her way to the elderly women's club of her church to join in a space cake baking contest. Last week she won a brandnew skateboard in a tombola, so she skates through the park with great enthusiasm (as you can see) listening to some nice hippedeehop tunes on her earphones.

Thies : Ocean Love

He has decided in favour for the mermaid...
Good Luck!!!

Olf : The Reverend!

This is a sketch I did at work today. Back at home I added the black areas. Then I desperatly tried to colourize it, but it didn't get any better. So why should I give myself a hard time? And here it is in glorious black and white.

PS: I wonder if this could be a relative to Roderick von Dornmark.
