Olf : Merry Christmas!

I would like to wish you and your loved ones a merry Christmas with a quote from the one and only Christmas Song.

And so I'm offering this simple phrase,
To kids from one to ninety-two,
Although its been said many times, many ways,
"Merry Christmas to you"

You can see the unforgettable Nat King Cole singing the Christmas Song over here. (The definitive recording can be found here.) Have yourself a merry little Christmas!

All the best,

Cat Roasting Fish

Yes guys, I know I am late! Sorry for that but better late than never, right?
Struggling with an older version of painter this weekend this nasty little cat came my way doodling around with the brushtool. Finally I finished it in Photoshop (GRRRR!).
By the way, it's time for roasting some chestnuts on the fire with Mr. Nat King Cole.

p.s.: Henning, feel free to blog me away with some new stuff tomorrow.

See you!

3rd Official Bilderwumme Drawing Night!

Yesterday we successfully celebrated our 3rd Official Bildewumme Drawing Night. Unfortunally three of our past contestants were unable to attend. The theme of the evening was clowns. And i guess that's what you can expect in the next couple of posts ...

On the left are a few impressions of the event.

Last Minute Reminder: Knoff Hoff in Hannover!

On Monday the 24th of November famous German scientist Joachim Bublath will be guest at the Literarischer Salon in Hannover. Some of you may know him from the popular Knoff-Hoff-Show. But I'm not sure if he will bring along the dixieland jazz band ...

Montag 24.11.2008 um 20 Uhr im Foyer der Uni am Königsworther Platz!

More information can be found at the homepage of the Literarischer Salon.

Lars : mechanical pet

I made the scribble for this picture on our 2nd Official Bilderwumme Drawing Night. Our theme was "science" that evening, which inspired me to draw this funny little Robodog. Here is now the final colour version.

I hope you enjoy it!

Olf : Brit Pop Zombie!

This is another sketch I did at our first Bilderwumme Drawing Night. He's even later for Helloween than last weeks jolly hunchback, but he's having a hell of a party anyway. I hope he's not going to have a terrible headache when it's over ...

PS: Next week is going to be the week of science. Why? We'll keep you informed ...

Our superordinate theme of the week was:
Here are two of my last night scetches...

Olf : Hunchback Party!

Here finally is last weeks jolly Hunchback in glorious Technicolor. Took ages to finish it. Well, he is a little bit late for Helloween. And I guess even the last election party has ended yet. But he is still having a good time nevertheless. Why? Because he can!

PS: Our "2nd Official Bilderwumme Drawing Night" is already in the starting blocks!

Olf : Frank and the Hunchback!

Last week we had our first official Bilderwumme Drawing Night. We wanted to do that for quite some time and thanks to our guest Matthias Vogel we finally managed to make it happen. And it was fun! The theme was of course Halloween. I will post some photos of the event on thursday.

I did these two sketches on that particular night. I almost finished the coloured version of the jolly hunchback today. Well, almost. I will post it next week instead after adding the finishing touches.

Oh, we also did some crazy characters. You may ask yourself, what are crazy characters? We'll post some soon ...

Jörn: The incredible Iggy

Hi folks, i'm the new one.
Some of you know me (or my blog), for the others: my name is Jörn, i'm a very likable illustrator and grafic-designer from Hanover, workin' in a advertising agency. I'm proud to post here every second monday - thanks for the invitation, guys.
Beginning with a caricature of the famous Iggy Pop. As i heared, he's suggested for a role in the new incredible Hulk movie. So here is a first bare-skinned, top secret picture. (Of course it's not true – but Iggy would be a great one – or not?)

Lars : fellow occupant

This is Fridolin, my new housekeeping robot. As you can see, he's not really new, but I couldn't afford a better one. Though he's a bit rotten, he still does a good job keeping my home clean and tidy. It's just that he often puts things somewhere else, because his memory isn't the best anymore. So it takes much time searching for them. - Maybe it wouldn't take much more time, if I did his job myself.
But how could I be angry with him, when he looks at me this way?

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT : Ralf König in Hannover!

Coming Monday the famous German comic artist - and master of Knollennasen (conks!) - Ralf König will be in Hannover at the Literarischer Salon. There he will be presenting his latest book Prototyp. According to Wikipedia "several of his comics have been adapted into films, translated into fourteen languages, and publications exceed 5 million copies".

This is the official announcement:

Fiat lux!

As we have been informed he is not just only a nice guy, but he takes plenty of time to sign the books with a neat little drawing. So bring along your comics or buy one at the event. I will definately do so!

So if you are in the Hannover area take the opportunity to go there.

How to get there and more information can be found on the homepage of the Literarischer Salon.

Olf : The Flu!

I've got the flu. That's boring. But the fates have been at least partially merciful with me. Yesterday I borrowed Shogun on DVD from the city libraray. You know, the mini-series from the 80s starring Richard Chamberlain and Toshiro Mifune. Television at its finest. Haven't seen it in ages. Makes being ill much less boring. Domo arigato gozaimasu!

Oh, I almost forgot. I did this picture for a pitch. Guess what the theme was!

Lars : The Birthday Bug

On Monday it was Edna's birthday and I had a new watch for her. The bowed shape of the packaging forced me to try something special to wrap it. I folded and cut the wrapping paper till it didn't wrinkle too much. In the end I added some toothpicks and eyes, so I got this nice little "Birthday Bug".

Olf : Ronald Eargan!

Sometimes people say, "Oh, you like to draw big noses!". Yes, that's true. I can't deny it. I love big noses. It's a recurring theme. But it's not fair to be reduced to just one oversized part of the body. I can do much more than that. I can do big ears too! Haha!

You wouldn't believe how long it took me to finish this one. Of course I don't mean the sketch. That came out of the blue. Ten minutes or so. But the colouring took ages. I tried a lot of different things, especially with the lines. And I totally blew up the thing in photoshop. In the end I had about a zillion layers I guess. I hope you appreciate that ...

PS: You can find a first colour version and the sketch over at my blog!
